Fury, Hennessey, and Duva |
Fury and Cunningham will Face off on April 20, making the return of the heavy weight division as a headliner at MSG for the first time since 2008 when Wladamir Klitschko beat Sultan Ibragimov. This is going to be a historical event. There is going to be thunder and lightning come April 20. The nice thing is we got a glimpse of what is to come at the press conference.
Cunningham, Dargan, and Richardson |
Nazeem Richardson , who is coming off of last weeks historical win working Bernard Hopkins corner at Barclay's center in Brooklyn. he emphasized that he 'Teaches his guys to box' . How to 'Swim without getting wet'. He also reminded us that 'This is not PRIDE fighting, its Prize Fighting'. and that 'Good a structured plan and a talented athlete will get you far in this sport.'
The press conference seemed all calm and tranquil till Tyson Fury approached the mic. He made his presence known and started a verbal was between himself and Cunningham, also getting Cunningham's trainer, Naz involved. Tyson said he is ringing in a new era in boxing. An era where 6'9" fit and talented boxers rule the heavy weight division. Tyson stepped over the line when he guaranteed a knockout win over Steve Cunningham, who Tyson called chinny. Fury said he is here (in the USA) to do demolition jobs on the heavyweights. He even went as far as to say he'd love to buy ad space on the soles of Cunningham's boxing shoes. He wanted to advertise his Twitter account as Steve laid Knocked out.
Steve has other thoughts. And noted that usually the biggest talkers are the biggest Chumps.
Either way this was a great start to a prefight promotion that will surely be worth every penny to NBC.
Curtis "Showtime" Stevens |
The under card will also feature, Karl "Dynamite" Dargan, who recently signed with Main Events and Brooklyn native Adam Kownacki.
Tickets are priced from $25-500. Get your tickets quick because this is sure to be a sell out.
